Our Environmental Commitments

• Comply with all applicable environmental legislation including the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and the Environment Act 2021
• Continuously reduce our carbon footprint through fleet electrification and efficient route planning
• Minimise waste at source and maximise reuse and recycling of excavated material and construction waste
• Prevent pollution of land, water and air through responsible site practice
• Work with suppliers who share our commitment to environmental responsibility
• Communicate our environmental expectations to all employees and subcontractors
• Review this policy annually and set measurable targets for continuous improvement

Fleet Decarbonisation

Transport is our single largest source of carbon emissions. We are actively transitioning our fleet to electric vehicles and targeting 40% EV share across all vehicles by 2027.

• 4 fully electric Vauxhall Vivaro-e vans currently operating on the fleet
• New vehicle purchases assessed against EV suitability before diesel alternatives are considered
• Telematics used across all vehicles to monitor and improve fuel efficiency
• Route optimisation to reduce unnecessary mileage and idle time
• Driver behaviour monitoring — harsh braking and acceleration flagged and addressed

Waste Management

• All excavated spoil removed by registered waste carriers to licensed facilities
• Waste transfer notes maintained for all waste movements — available on request
• Preference for inert fill and recycled aggregate where specification allows
• No burning of waste materials on or near any site
• Cable drums returned to supplier or recycled — not landfilled
• Office waste segregated for recycling

Pollution Prevention

• Fuel and oil stored in bunded containers — never on unsealed ground
• Spill kits carried on all vehicles and maintained on active sites
• No concrete or cement washout into drains or watercourses
• Dust suppression used on dry excavations near residential areas
• Noise and vibration managed in accordance with BS 5228
• Working hours restricted in noise-sensitive areas unless expressly permitted

Responsibilities

The Managing Director holds overall responsibility for environmental compliance. Site supervisors are responsible for ensuring environmental commitments are understood and applied on site. All operatives are trained to recognise environmental risks and report any incidents immediately.
